As per the latest Report Comes From iLounge, that Apple is Going to Release ipad 3 By March 2012. According to Trusted Source of iLounge that ipad 3 Will be thicker than the iPad 2. It will be forcibly made 0.7mm thickerin order to accommodate a dual light bar system, which will be required for a higher-resolution display.
According to Report,
The third-generation iPad will become modestly thicker (0.7mm) in order to accommodate the twin light bar system needed for its higher-resolution display. It’s currently on track for a March timeframe release, and according to our source could be publicly shown as early as January, depending on conditions.
The display of the iPad will be improved (possibly retina) and the reason that the device will be 0.7mm thicker. The source also claims that the product could be shown off as soon as January of next year.
