Apple building iMessage Application for OS X Lion, which is upcoming features of iOS 5 firmware. The iMessage is a unified messaging service for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch which makes easy to send messages over using Wi-Fi and 3G.
Currently iMessages available for iPhone, iPad and iPad, but as MacRumors Reported that Apple Building iMessage Application for mac also, which is framework with iChat.
