How to Lock the Desktop in One Click in Windows 7

Many people lock their Windows desktop while they are away from their computer for a few minutes. In Windows 7 you can do this by pressing Windows Key + L. However, what if you frequently lock the desktop and would like a one-click shortcut directly from the desktop icon?

Follow this simple step:

1. Right-click any empty area of your desktop.
2. Click New.
3. Click Shortcut.
4. A dialog box should appear. In the Type the Location of the Item field paste this shortcut: rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation

5. Click the Next Button.
6. Enter your personal description under the Type a Name for this Shortcut field.
7. Click Finish.
8. Done!
