Which Apps Chow Down on Your Data Plan?

With Smartphone craze the internet plans for many companies are the best profit gaining plan. For every smartphone user, the internet plan is must or device will be like empty box which is of no use. The apps on Android and ios has revolutionized the mobile world. The popular apps like Facebook, YouTube, twitter and Netflix are on every user mobile device. But this app has disadvantages too, that by consuming a whopping data plan. A Web site dubbed KnowMyApp.org, the Wireless Association tells you how much data is consumed by key mobile apps every month. The site calculates its data consumption by calculating user using the app three times a day under certain times.

Just take an example of Facebook, a person using Facebook would like five posts, post five comments, view any embedded video, view 3 embedded photos, check-in once, scroll through the Timeline and upload a photo. A user using Netflix would check a TV show for 9 minutes, search for TV programs, pause an episode, add a TV program to the favorites list, on the captions, set the volume, fast forward and rewind shows and finally view a particular show.

The site focuses specifically on Android and ios apps and shows how much data each one consumes out of a typical monthly or quarterly data plan. Only a typical app on the market are covered, but you will find information on some of the most popular ones. The site is a handy guide for any mobile user who likes to use mobile apps, but doesn’t want to pay extra from your pocket.

So how does this apps fare? Facebook takes an average of 433MB per month, Twitter consumed just 67MB, and YouTube ate 1,294MB, or around 1.2 GB of data. But Netflix take out on a typical 2GB data plan with a very large 4,227 MB or more than 4GB.

So plan your data by checking out your daily consumption.
