I do not consider myself techie. I do not even install apps that I think are not that important or useful. Well, apart from playing online and facebook casino games at Win.com, I just maximize the use of my smartphone when I need directions to where I will go, when I surf the net and check my social network accounts, and when I need to access certain data immediately. The best thing, about smartphone applications, I think, is the fact that they help us manage many aspects of our lives, including our work—sending an e-mail message, transferring files, and even doing video conferencing.
Among the few apps I installed on my phone which I think is quite essential is Airdroid. Basically, it is a free app that allows me to manage and control my Android device from my computer or tablet. I utilize Airdroid to send and/ or receive text messages; install or uninstall apps, programs, games, and others; transfer files; and download music, photos, and contacts from my phone. It is also a good way to have a back-up for all the data and files I have on my phone which I can count on just in case my phone gets lost.

Installing Airdroid and using it are relatively easy. Here are the basic steps:
- Download and install this free app on your handset device or smartphone. This will take only a few minutes.
- Set up your Airdroid account. You will have to think of a good password that will be matched with the e-mail address you will use everytime you log into Airdroid. For instant access, you might have to use the predefined password or the system generated key at least on your first use or log in.
- Go to Airdroid website; log in using your e-mail address and password. After this, you can launch the Airdroid app; and start accessing the files and programs on your mobile phone.
Among the many advantages of having Airdroid, I find it most useful in downloading my files, particularly pictures from my smartphone to my laptop/ computer. You, too, will certainly find this app really useful!
